Our Process
A clear path from first conversation to ongoing care – with no surprises along the way.
Discovery Call
A complimentary 15-minute conversation, by phone or online.
This is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about your service background, what’s prompting you to seek advice now and what you’d like to achieve. We’ll explain how we work, and together we’ll work out whether we’re the right fit for you.
What we cover
- Your situation and what’s on your mind
- The areas of advice you may need
- How our process and fees work
What it costs you
- Nothing – the call is complimentary
- No obligation to proceed
- Just 15 minutes of your time
Questionnaire & Scoping Meeting
Complete our secure fact find, then meet in person or online to agree the scope of advice.
Before we meet, you’ll receive a link to our secure online questionnaire. It captures the details we need to understand your whole financial picture. We then sit down together – at Peninsula on the Bay, Frankston, or online – to talk through your goals and priorities in depth and agree exactly what our advice will cover.
What we cover
- Your goals, priorities and timeframes
- Your income, assets, super, insurance and entitlements
- What the advice will and won’t cover
Helpful to have on hand
- Recent super and investment statements
- Any DVA or CSC correspondence and offers
- Insurance policies, payslips and your latest tax return
Client Engagement Agreement
Scope and fees agreed in writing before any work begins.
Following our scoping meeting, we’ll send you a Client Engagement Agreement. It sets out in plain English what we’ll do for you, what it will cost and how fees are paid – so there are no surprises. No work begins until you’ve read it, asked any questions and signed.
What it sets out
- The scope of advice we’ve agreed
- A fixed advice fee, agreed upfront
- How and when fees are paid
DVA-funded advice
- Eligible PI, SRDP and Bereavement offers are funded by DVA
- We seek approval and invoice DVA directly
- No out-of-pocket expense to you
Research & Analysis
Modelling your options against your goals.
This is where the detailed work happens. With your authority, we gather information from your super funds, insurers and product providers. We then research and model the strategies and products that could help you reach your goals – taking into account your entitlements, tax position and the rules that apply to Defence schemes.
What we do
- Gather information from your funds and providers
- Model strategies, cash flow and projections
- Research and compare products and costs
What we consider
- Your goals, needs and attitude to risk
- Tax, entitlements and Defence scheme rules
- Alternatives and the trade-offs of each
Statement Of Advice
Your recommendations, presented and explained.
We present your Statement of Advice in person or online and walk you through it step by step. It explains what we recommend, why it’s in your best interests, what it costs and the risks involved. Take the time you need to ask questions – nothing proceeds until you’re comfortable and have given us your authority to go ahead.
What it includes
- Our recommendations and the reasons for them
- Costs, risks and alternatives we considered
- How you’re likely to be better off
Your decision
- Ask as many questions as you like
- Take time to consider the advice
- Sign an Authority to Proceed when you’re ready
Implementation & Ongoing Care
We put the plan in place and review it with you.
Once you’re ready, we take care of the paperwork – from applications and rollovers to insurance and investments – and keep you updated along the way. For clients who choose ongoing advice, we review your plan regularly, keep it on track as your life and the rules change, and are here whenever you need us.
Implementation
- We complete and lodge the paperwork
- We liaise with funds, insurers and providers
- We confirm everything is in place
Ongoing care
- Regular reviews under your ongoing service agreement
- Updates when your circumstances or the rules change
- An agreement you renew each year – always your choice
