DVA Special Rate Disability Pension Mount Martha – How It Works

The SRDP process includes:

  1. DVA confirming accepted service-related conditions.
  2. Demonstrating a significant reduction in work capacity.
  3. Meeting both service and medical eligibility criteria.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1
What is the difference between DFRDB, MSBS, and ADF Super?
What is the difference between DFRDB, MSBS, and ADF Super? DFRDB is a defined benefit scheme closed to new entrants since 1991, MSBS is a hybrid scheme (part defined benefit, part accumulation) closed since 2016, and ADF Super is a fully accumulation-based fund for those who joined after 1 July 2016.
2
How do I know which military super scheme I belong to?
It depends on when you joined the ADF (or changed from reservist status) and whether you've had breaks in service. Defence’s Superannuation & Pay & Conditions department can help you determine your scheme.
3
What entitlements am I eligible for under the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)?
Entitlements may include service pensions, disability or incapacity payments, medical care and allied health cover, rehabilitation programs, and special payments depending on your service history and specific circumstances. Veteran Capital can guide you through what you may be eligible for. (Internal reference)
4
Can I combine or transfer benefits from one scheme to another?
Some sections (like accumulation components) of certain schemes may be portable or transferable; however, defined benefit components usually are not transferable. Each situation is different, so we review your service history to see what’s possible.
5
How does leaving the ADF affect my financial and superannuation position?
Transitioning out of the ADF often triggers key decisions: what to do with your existing super scheme, whether to commute any pension, how to maximise benefits, how DVA entitlements kick in, and how your financial plan needs to adapt for civilian income. We provide support to plan this well in advance.
6
What fees or costs are involved when working with Veteran Capital for advice on my super or entitlements?
We aim to be transparent: any fees for advice are disclosed up-front. Depending on what services you need (super review, entitlement claims, investment advice etc.), there may be different structures (flat fee, percentage of assets, or hourly rate). We’ll provide you a clear quote before any work begins. (Internal reference).
